The museum follows an L shape, ending at a large door. He opens this door and I can see it’s his bedroom. Suddenly I’m not sure if coming into the museum was a good idea. I begin to panic, thinking this is a man who was alone with Cornelie, for God’s sake, what if he expects the same of me?

He looks at me and smiles gently. “It’s fine to come in, the museum extends into my room.”

I feel a great wave of relief sweep over me, oddly mixed with a little disappointment. I step through the door while he explains that this is where his most personal and sentimental work hangs. He shows me a pastel portrait of himself as a child and one of his father seated next to a guitarist. I look at the portrait of his father, hands clasped while solemnly listening. His eyes have the same vacancy as Edgar’s do when he’s not working.
